I survived!

Today was my Week 1 Day 1 of C25K....... and I SURVIVED! you hear that people.... I SURVIVED! And what a great feeling it is. I'm not going to lie, I wanted to quit after my first 60 second jog. But I gave myself a pep talk and another pep talk and yip that's right..... Another pep talk. Everytime it was time to jog I would tell myself that I'm not the only one who's ribs are aching, legs are hurting and not to mention big bum/boobs are bouncing all over. Every fat person has to start somewhere. Every body part with extra baggage on it will bounce, every rib will ache and threaten to ruin your day when you wake up the next morning and can hardly move. I am not the only person that will have to experience this, it's the start for every person who embarks on a new journey of a healthy life. I told myself that I wanted to do it for Dryden, so that he won't be embarrassed of his mom.(Since we all know how kids are these days. Them little bullies will bug other kids if they aren't wearing the right clothes, have the right hair cut and yes has a mother who isn't a a skinny minnie) I tell myself that I want to do this for ME, so I can be comfortable in my clothes, so that I won't get depressed when I go shopping and everything looks nice but when I try it on it looks horrible. (that could also be because store mannequins wear a size XS and EVERYTHING looks nice in XS and not so much in a L or XL) And wouldn't you know it, my pep talks worked. The first 90 seconds seem to take forever and the next 20 minute flew by. So here's to hoping I keep with it and eventually start to enjoy running. I'm sure my pep talks won't be far from my mind when it's time to start my 30 minute program but if that's what it takes to get me through it that's fine with me!!

Sorry if this doesn't make much sense and I am rambling on. But this post will be my motivation on the days I don't feel like moving!

Its been forever...... AGAIN!!!

Well I keep promising myself that I will blog more often. I would like to say that I simply haven't had "time" to blog. Even tho we have been really busy lately, there is always time here and there to do things. Somehow blogging isn't one of the things I squeeze in. I love love LOVE reading other peoples blogs but when it comes to my own I never know what to write about. When I do start a post it seems to have a billion topics and goes on fooooorrrreeeevvvverrrr. Which ends up boring me and I never finish the post. Hmm.... this post is already getting boring and...... loooong. So again I am promising myself that I WILL blog more often and hopefully I can find my blogging groove and start to enjoy writing again.

Things on my mind lately:

1. I return back to work on June 27th. That is 12 days away. TWELVE days people. I have been off of work for approx. 54 weeks and am so scared to go back.

2. Dryden will be offically be a 1 year old in a couple weeks, which means he isn't my little baby any more. (even tho he will always be my baby)

3. Blogging of course. I think about it everyday even tho I don't actually blog every day (or every other day... or every month)

4. Losing weight. This is always on my mind but with the warm weather here to stay for a couple months I dread having to wearing summer clothes. So here is to hoping I can actually stick with a routine and lose some weight.

5. My good friend Candace is getting married in 10 days and even tho I am stressing about what I am going to wear , I am SO excited to watch her walk down the aisle and be able to share in her special day with her.

Here are some random picture of the last few months (BEWARE: I do not edit any of my pics)

9 Months YOUNG!!!

Thatttttssssssss RIGHT!! Dryden is a whole 9 months young. He entered this world just 274 short days ago. They have been the best 274 days. Dryden is STILL such a smiley boy, he hardly EVER cries, sleeps/eat/poops when he's supposed to and is learning so much each and every day.

Here are some stats on the lil bean;

Weight: 21.5 Pounds
Height: 29 Inches

Dryden is a busy boy, it's hard to leave him alone for even a minute as he gets into everything and moves around so much. He stands at his activity table/musical mirror and anywhere he can hold onto. He walks back and forth while holding on to the couch and tries to stand and push the chairs around in the kitchen. As I mentioned previously, he stands in his crib and blabbers away until we go in and get him. We have his crib on the second lowest level but will have to lower it to the bottom soon as D thinks he is a monkey and will probably climb right out of his crib.

Dryden still wants nothing to do with store bought baby food. Which is fine with me. That stuff tastes like..... ummmm.. well you know. NOT something I would eat so why would I put it in his mouth. That means I am still making homemade baby food which he can't seem to get enough of. He loves eating frozen fruit from his Nuby feeder (including bananas grapes, blackberries and the odd pickle)  D also eats whatever we are eating for supper... he sure isn't picky when it comes to food!!

Dryden still has the same nap schedule. He naps at 11am & 4pm for 1.5-2 hours each. When its his nap time we lay him in his crib, give him a bottle and he falls asleep. No fuss!! He is also still sleeping through the nights. (Same routine as nap times) Bedtime is anywhere from 9-10pm and he wakes up at 8am (because he has two long naps a day he isn't ready for bed time till later in the evening). Which works for me.

D has never been real sick or had a fever, which is awesome. He has had a few minor colds and a couple days ago we noticed some discharge coming from his left eye. So today I took him to the doctor and he has a bacteria infection which is treatable with drops. So we are now on the road to recovery.

AND DRYDEN NOW HAS TWO TEETH!!! Two bottom teeth. I noticed a small rash on his bum two weeks ago and figured he must be teething and then BAM....... there was one tooth and two days later another one appeared. No fevers, no grumpiness...  NOTHING! You would never tell he's teething other than he always has to have something in his  mouth, whether its toys, his fingers, the wooden chair legs or anything else he can get in there.

Although I am ecstatic about the lil man growing and learning so many new things I am sad because he is no longer the baby who slept in my arms, the baby that loved cuddling, the baby that would lay on his blanket and the floor and not move. He is now the baby that laughs at me when I tell him not to play with the blu ray player/surround system, not to put his hands in the fireplace, not to stand up at the garbage can and dig in it, not to play with the computer and shut it off, not to find EVERY electrical cord (even though we hide them really good).  But every day when I think about how BIG he is, how much he is changing, and how fast these first nine months have passed by I stop and think that he is not 9 months old.... He is 9 MONTHS YOUNG and still my baby and always will be.

This is what happens......

When I peek in Dryden's room when he is supposed to be sleeping.

The boy is growing up and now thinks its ok to stand at his crib and blabber away while he is supposed to be napping.

St. Patty's Day

This year we stayed at home and enjoyed St. Patty's Day with just the 3 of us. We had a nice candlight supper with some wine (we've been drinking alot of the good stuff lately.... probably isn't good that we have 60 bottles in the spare room and another 30 on the way).

We've been busy!!

We have been a busy lil family (as usual).  Dryden and I went to MJ for a few days and hung out with Stacey, Blake, Rhian and Jordyn. It was a good time we had some great food (Blake made beer butt chicken on the BBQ.. Yummo!!) and of course some wine. The kids had fun entertaining each other. It's super cute watching them  all play together.

Jordy and Dryden

Stacey and Dryden at the swimming pool.

A picture of the girls when they visited us a few weeks ago.

We also spent some time at Shauns parents farm in Manitoba. It is always a good time at the farm and D loves seeing his Grandparents (I'm sure it has nothing to do with them feeding him all kinds of goodies hehe). We took Dryden outside for a while to get some fresh air and to see the baby calves that were born that morning.

Dryden is EIGHT MONTHS OLD.......

That's right... The boy is a whole 8 months old. He came into our lives just 243 days ago. The last eight months has passed by so quickly but they have been the best months of our lives. We are so blessed to have such a healthy happy boy, we couldn't have asked for anything more.

Some Stats on the handsome lil fella:

Weight; approx. 21 pounds
Height;  approx. 27 inches

This month Dryden has learned to sit all alone without falling all the time, he now sits or lays on his belly in the tub ( he will NOT lay on his back because he is too busy playing) he pulls himself up to a kneeling/standing position while holding onto furniture, turns on the blu-ray player and surround sound a million times a day, still rolls every where he wants to go with the odd army crawl, he moves around SO fast it is hard to leave him alone for any length of time.

He still won't eat canned baby food. So I still make pureed food and freeze it in ice cube trays or muffins pans for easy use. He loves eating bananas, my homemade strawberry/orange/apple puree, pureed broccoli, carrots and sweet potatoes. Last week I pureed chicken breasts and tomatoes which he also ate all up. Of course his grandparents still spoil him with lots of goodies including the cupcake my mom gave him to feed himself. D loves cake (because of Shaun's birthday and valentines day we had plently of cakes and goodies around here. Dryden will actually throw a fit if we have goodies and don't share)

D still has two naps a day. He has a morning nap around 11 and afternoon nap around 4 which he sleeps 1 1/2-2 hours for each. He is still sleeping through the night but will sometimes wake up around 6:30-7:30 for a bottle and then sleeps till 8:30-9:30. For his nap times and bedtime we lay him down in his crib with a bottle, turn on his Fisher Price aquarium and close the door. He usually falls asleep within 2-10 minutes. He never cries when we lay him down and if he decides that he is not tired he will play in his crib until we go get him. Sometimes if I am busy doing dishes or cleaning or having a bath I leave Dryden in his crib for up to an hour while he plays and talks to himself. It sure is a nice break whether he is sleeping or playing.

Dryden still smiles ALL THE TIME although he has started to throw fits when we have food and don't share or we aren't paying attention to him when he wants us too. He doesnt cry when he has a fit instead he moans and groans and he bangs his hands and feet on the ground and will put his head face down on the ground in hopes that we will feel bad for him.

Drydens teeth count is still at ZERO!!!

Well I hope the next few months go by a little slower than the last eight!!

February's Happenings

Well it looks like February flew past and well....... I didn't blog.... Not even once. Ooooops. So once again I'm looking back and seeing what we did for the last few weeks.

We started off February with some crappy weather (typical Sask). With that being said we never made it to my nephew Reid's birthday because the highways were horrible. We also missed out on visiting with my sister Sheri from Alberta who was home for the weekend with her new handsome man. (That was the first time ever that I have missed out on Sheri being home and not seeing her which seriously broke my lil heart) Then we had Shaun's birthday....... Shaun and I had a date night while Dryden had a sleep over at my mama's house. It was so nice to head out on the town for some alone time.

We also spent a few nights at my Grandma's house which was so relaxing. My mom, sister Stacey and her two girls Rhian and Jordyn went with us. Too bad the weather wasn't more cooperative so that we could have played outside but we had plenty of fun inside.

My mom also gave D his very first cupcake that he got to eat ALL BY HIMSELF!!  Of course she left the cleaning up for me to do.

February also included our adventure to Saskatoon to see Larry the Cable Guy, Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engval. Which was AWESOME. Would definitely go again.
We ventured to Shaun's farm in Manitoba to visit for a few days. I got to see a calf being born and we spent a few hours outside enjoying the sunny winter day.

Hopefully I will be back to post again soon!!!

Girls LOVE shopping!!

Once again yesterday was blessed with the Wicked Saskatchewan Wind, so instead of heading out for a walk with our friend Candace and her daughter Brooklyn (Drydens older gf) we decided to.......... GO SHOPPING!! Well we were actually on a mission to exchange a few things B got for her birthday (She needed differednt sizes) and Candace and I had a few things to return at costco. Whether it's shopping/returning/exchanging it's still nice to head out for the afternoon with friends. The kids had fun looking at everything/everyone at the mall but by the time we got to Costco Dryden had fallen asleep and B was on her own. After costco I gave my vehicle a quick wash as it has been melting alot this week, then headed home to make supper and wait for Shaun to come home and spend the evening with us. All in all it ended up to be good day despite the weather outside.

Here are a few pictures from our last shopping adventure with C & B.

Here are some pictures of some other friends and family we have visited lately;

We had a play date with Christina, Hayden & Alannah

And lunch with Shanon, Marty, Reid & Payton

Days gone by.....

Here are some things that we did this winter;

Christmas is our favorite time of the year, we decorate every inch of the house and love when the evenings arrive and its time to light up the tree and the rest of the lights in our home. We are looking forward to the years to come when Dryden can help decorate and share in the excitement with us. With my three sisters living in three different cities in Saskatchewan and Alberta and I in a fourth it is hard for us to all get together for every occasion. We sure try but it doesn't always work out, Christmas is an exception of course. We all gather together for the weekend before the big day trying to squish in a whole lotta activities in the mere 48 hours we are together. We like to drink some delicious alcoholic beverages, go tubing behind the quad, eat too much, drink more bevies, play games (like Catch Phrase which always ends in a family feud... A real family feud haha) drink more beeeevverages, sing kereoke and try to find a warm bed to catch some zzzzz's in. Only to wake up and do it all over again.We then spend Christmas day with Shaun's family which is always a fun time. We play hockey, go ice fishing, have weiner roasts, play games, also have a few alcoholic beverages and too many appetizers. No matter which family we are with it is always sad to say good bye and the end of our few days together. Whats even more sad is that my camera magically erased all the pictures from both weekends with our families. So I will have to get some pictures from my sisters and Shaun's family so that we can have some memories of D's first Christmas. But here is a picture of Dryden in his Santa Suit that we sent out on our cards this year.

This year we have had a pretty mild winter (well I think so). Maybe it is because I haven't had to go to work and can stay home on the coldest days and therefore don't realise how cold it actually gets. I wake up, get outta my nice warm bed and if it "looks" too cold out I close the curtains and continue on with my day inside the house.  Anyways, since we have had some pretty nice days we took the opportunity to take Dryden out for a few walks (mostly my mom and I).  Its no secret that D likes being outside. Since the day he was born all you had to do to calm him down if he was restless or if he was tired  was to take him outside in a blanket and he would settle instantly. So we took advantage of this and Dryden went on his first road trip when he was a week old to his cousin  Payton's first birthday party (which was an outdoor party). From there on in, we weren't at home for long. We traveled to the farm in Manitoba (almost every weekend) , rented a cabin for a few days (Dryden was 3 1/2 weeks old) and visited my sister and her family out at the lake a few times.With that being said we thought we would try taking him for his first winter walk, it was a nice day but the cold Saskatchewan wind graced us with its presence. None the less Dryden loved it, his cheeks were a tad rosy when we arrived back home but you could see the joy in his eyes. We have then since taken him for a few sleigh rides with the super sweet wooden sleigh that Stacey (my sister) let us use. Here are a few pictures from those adventures.

Another First

Well I have been following some blogs for quite some time and always thought to myself  "I'd sure like to blog but it looks like SOOOOO much work".  Lets just say I am not too sure how this all "works" but imma gonna try it!! So here we go;

Today I realised that it is January 27th, 2011. There is no significance to this day but its the 27th day of the first month of the year, its 5 days till the beginning of the next month, its 21 1/2 weeks till I return to work, its 338 days till the year 2012. Where has the time gone?? I don't remember starting the new year, or how the last year ended. The days seem to fly by and  I am NOT happy about that. I am enjoying every minute that I have with Dryden and all the time we get to spend with Shaun when he gets home from work, but after the day/week is over its hard to remember what we did with our time. Which is why I decided that I will start blogging and when I think I have misplaced the brain cells that hold the past in them, I will come over yonder and check out my blog and replenish them so called brain cells.

Since it took me a while (we won't discuss how long) to figure out how to post my first blog I wont be posting anything else today as I have to prepare supper and wash the floors ( not my favorite thing to do). But here is a picture of the beautiful baby boy that makes everyday the happiest day of my young life.
